Thomson Geer is pleased to welcome employment law Partners Rachel Drew and Rose Dimitrious and their team of 15 lawyers and support staff to the firm's growing national workplace relations practice area and expanding Brisbane office.
The team includes senior lawyers General Counsel David Quinn and Special Counsel Belinda Hapgood, along with migration lawyers and Practice Director Migration Rebecca Macmillan.
Thomson Geer Chief Executive Partner Adrian Tembel said: "We welcome Rachel, Rose and their team and the new perspectives they will bring to the firm. Employment is a highly regulated area and increasingly complex.
"It is a vital area of law for any in-bound investors and our employment team gives considerable support to our M&A teams and their clients as they navigate the complexities of employment law in Australia in addition to servicing clients who seek us out specifically for our employment law expertise."
Rachel is well respected with 25 years of experience in employment law and numerous citations in Doyle's Guide, Best Lawyers and Legal 500, while Rose was recognised as a Rising Star in Doyle's Guide in 2025.
They have a broad employment practice with significant expertise in employment disputes in the Federal Circuit Court, Fair Work Commission and Industrial Court. They also have expertise in work health and safety and workers' compensation. This is supported by their "front-end" skills in award and industrial agreement interpretation and contract drafting as well as registrations for doctors, teachers and other regulated professions.
Along with Rachel, Rose, David, Belinda and Rebecca, the team includes Senior Associate Bronte Bezzina, Associate Emily Trompf, Lawyers Maud Beach, Sophie Wyatt, Julian Shannon and Jana White, Paralegal/Graduates Catherine Hartridge and Jazlin Bauer, Secretaries Fiona Hohn and Kellie May, Paralegal Peter Anghel, and Migration Assistant Fiona Baylis.
The team starts on July 1 alongside the Canberra workplace team from global law firm Ashurst led by Partner Elisa Speight and including Senior Consultant Paul Vane-Tempest, announced last month.
Late last year the Thomson Geer national workplace law team was also bolstered by the appointment of Partner Adrian Wong and his team in Melbourne.
Thomson Geer's Brisbane office has seen significant growth so far in 2025 with Technology Partners Hayden Delaney and Steven Hunwicks and their team of eight and Financial Services Partner Liam Hennessy and his team of three also joining the firm.
