Thomson Geer welcomes leading tax, trust and private client specialist Aimee Riley as Partner

Thomson Geer is pleased to announce the return of Aimee Riley as a Partner in our Tax team in Sydney.

Aimee has re-joined Thomson Geer after nearly 10 years working as a senior tax, wealth management and trust law advisor for leading international professional services firm EY.

Most recently, Aimee led EY’s Private Law Team, advising high-net-worth individuals and large private corporate groups on sophisticated private wealth matters, estate and succession planning, trust structures, asset protection, complex tax strategies and related corporate and commercial arrangements.

Thomson Geer Chief Executive Partner, Adrian Tembel said Aimee’s return enhances the firm’s national tax capability.

“Aimee brings deep technical expertise in private wealth and trust law, paired with a thoughtful and client-centred approach. We are delighted to welcome her back as Partner and look forward to supporting her continued development as a first-class tax professional.”

Aimee indicated that she was pleased to be returning to Thomson Geer and expressed strong optimism regarding the future opportunities for the Tax practice.

Aimee has been widely recognised across Australia's tax law sector, named by Doyle's Guide as an Estates and Succession Planning Rising Star in 2020 and 2019, nominated for Women Lawyers WA Woman Lawyer of the Year Award in 2019, named Emerging Tax Star and recipient of the Gordon Cooper Memorial Scholarship at the Tax Institute of Australia’s Tax Adviser of the Year Awards in 2018, and was a finalist in the Taxation category of the Lawyer’s Weekly 30 under 30 Awards in 2017.

She has also been a regular presenter for legal and tax professional bodies such as the WA Law Society, The Tax Institute, including their Women in Tax Division, and Legalwise, and has been a guest lecturer at the University of Western Australia.

Aimee’s appointment further strengthens Thomson Geer’s national Tax practice following with the appointment of Partner Cameron Forbes who joined in 2023 and the recent promotion of Fiona Stapleton to Partner.
