Thomson Geer has advised construction giant Lendlease on the development of a new student accommodation project for The University of Western Australia.
Construction of the 14-level Nedlands Student Accommodation building in Perth has commenced.
Thomson Geer advised Lendlease on the negotiation of the construction contract with the University and on Lendlease's downstream subcontract arrangements for the project.
The team was led by Partner Franco Aversa, who said: "We are pleased to work with Lendlease on this essential development that will support students and the University. Our national Construction and Infrastructure team worked seamlessly with Lendlease to bring the project to fruition."
The project is a transformative initiative that will address a shortage of student housing in Perth. It will offer 847 beds across 671 apartments, including single-bedroom studios, two- and four-bedroom apartments—alongside a wide range of shared amenities, communal spaces, and over 600 m² of ground-floor commercial and café facilities.
The development aligns with the University’s long-term vision for campus growth while respecting and integrating cultural heritage values.
The Thomson Geer team also included Consultant Geoff Wood, Senior Associate Kaitlin Duff, Associate Erin Mack, and Lawyer Elliot Nash.
