Monica is a Special Counsel in our Canberra employment team with over 25 years of experience practising in employment law, discrimination law, industrial relations and work health and safety law.

Monica has extensive experience advising and representing both private sector and Commonwealth clients in employment related matters, including disputes concerning entitlements under collective agreements, unfair dismissal applications and general protections matters in the Fair Work Commission and discrimination claims.

Over the last 17 years Monica has specialised in advising Commonwealth Government agencies in relation to the Commonwealth employment framework and all matters concerning public sector employment. This includes effective management of workplace grievances, performance management and disciplinary matters, conducting investigations of potential breaches of the APS Code of Conduct and determination of appropriate sanctions, entitlements under collective agreements, contracts of employment, workplace policies, termination of employment, unlawful discrimination and harassment, work health and safety and Commonwealth employee workers' compensation claims.

Monica's inhouse Commonwealth Government experience is substantial, having worked internally for several different agencies, which has provided her with a unique understanding of how agencies operate and the most effective way to deliver complex advice which meets their needs.

Monica is also experienced in undertaking misconduct investigations and investigations under the Public Interest Disclosure Act including advising in relation to the National Anti-Corruption Commission, and providing training to clients in relation to a broad range of employment related issues.
