Elissa has 20 years' experience advising government and private sector clients on a wide range of employment, workplace relations and safety issues. Her clients know her as an experienced, pragmatic, and trusted adviser, supporting them through complex and sensitive matters involving large numbers of employees, multiple government departments, or significant reputational or operational risk.
Elissa's practice focusses on public sector employment and workplace relations, assisting Commonwealth, State and Territory government clients as they navigate significant workforce change, industrial disputes, enterprise bargaining, litigation, safety incidents, and compliance issues. She has acted for Commonwealth government agencies and entities in multiple rounds of enterprise bargaining, and assisted in the establishment of new Commonwealth bodies.
She regularly appears for employers before courts and tribunals in a range of employment claims, including general protections and discrimination applications. Elissa also advises on strategic workforce planning and reform (including restructures and redundancies), misconduct and underperformance, termination of employment, and superannuation.
Elissa has guided a number of clients through the entire lifecycle of complex underpayment issues, from discovery to remediation and regulator action. She also advises government and private sector clients on meeting their WHS duties, responding to serious safety incidents and navigating enforcement action by the regulator, including in complex operational environments.
She also assists both government and private sector clients to sensitively and successfully navigate serious, sensitive or reputationally significant misconduct issues, including advising boards and senior executives, conducting workplace investigations and reviews, and providing workplace training to employees at all levels.
