Joni Young acts for corporate and private clients, a number of Australian universities and related bodies across property and commercial law. She has extensive experience in drafting, negotiating and completing a broad range of commercial and property transactions.

Joni Young’s recent experience includes:

  • Acting for a university as proprietor in relation to the major refurbishment of an iconic building and surrounds, and associated long term leasing arrangements, including advising and documenting arrangements for relocation and pop up/temporary accommodation.
  • Acting for a leading university on an ongoing basis in relation to the redevelopment of its campus retail precincts including providing legal advice underpinning the university‚Äôs strategic retail master plan, advising in relation to lease structuring, the Retail Leases Act 1994 (NSW), the relocation of tenants, the tender process and addressing issues in relation to the fit-out and development of retail premises, drafting and negotiating all agreements, leases and related transaction documentation.
  • Acting for a Commonwealth government agency in relation to the drafting of their template supply and service agreements and associated suite of documents.
  • Acting for a private equity firm and their client in respect of a series of share acquisitions of real estate agency businesses, including advising and negotiating the terms of the share sale agreements and transactional matters.
