Cara completed her traineeship with the firm in 2012 and was admitted to practice in 2013. She has extensive experience in personal injury litigation, having previously worked in a plaintiff practice.

At Thomson Geer, Cara acts for WorkSafe Victoria, its authorised insurers and the Transport Accident Commission.

Cara also has a significant self-insurer practice and provides advice, education and training to her various clients including Qantas and Brickworks. In 2019, Cara completed a secondment with WorkSafe Victoria, further developing her strong relationship with the client.

Her practice incorporates common law, statutory benefits litigation, risk and claims management, judicial reviews, dependency claims and claims made pursuant to Part III of the Wrongs Act. Cara has specialist experience in impairment benefits and hearing loss claims.

Cara’s approach is to thoroughly and efficiently investigate claims to achieve the best possible outcome for her clients.

Cara enjoys mentoring and developing junior staff.

Cara Bredebusch’s recent experience includes:

  • Part of the circuit team since admission, running trials in Warrnambool and Ballarat on behalf of WorkSafe Victoria.
  • Successfully defended numerous common law damages matters, including complex multi-defendant matters and psychiatric injury claims.
  • Conduct of matters and instructed in jury trials, Court of Appeal matters and Supreme Court trials.
  • Appeared in interlocutory applications in the Magistrates’ and County Court.
  • Mentor to junior practitioners.
