Welcome to Issue 78 of the Victorian Public Sector Newsletter.
It certainly has been an eventful fortnight, with all levels and instruments of government starting to address the frequently changing implications of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nevertheless, some business of government continues.
The Government has introduced new guidance to eradicate gendered violence at work, new laws to protect emergency workers from harm and legislation to better protect the rights of adults with a disability. The Government has also appointed four new Magistrates.
However, a move to allow lawyers to charge contingency fees in class actions has been criticised by the Law Council.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has delivered a number of judgments in response to applications for judicial review, including an application for judicial review of a Medical Panel Determination where it was alleged the Medical panel took into account matters that were not raised in medical reports or submissions.
