NEWSLETTER: SA Public Sector – Issue 69

19 May 2022

Welcome to the latest issue of our SA Public Sector Newsletter.

Amendments to the Public Health Act have sailed through Parliament’s lower house, but are set to face a longer debate in the upper house. The amendments are designed to end the emergency management declaration which is currently used to impose many COVID restrictions, including seven-day quarantine for COVID-positive patients. While the existing emergency management declaration will come to an end, the Public health Act will provide for a baseline of key protection designed to protect the most vulnerable South Australians in high-risk settings who are most at risk of serious illness if they contract COVID, including vaccination, mask wearing, and other infection control measures in hospitals, aged and disability care, and other healthcare settings.
