NEWSLETTER: SA Public Sector – Issue 64

2 March 2022

Publications

Welcome to the first issue of our SA Public Sector Newsletter for 2022. This issue is lengthier than usual as we cover content for two months.

In this issue, the Office of Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) urges organisations to put accountability at the centre of their information
handling practices. Australian Information Commissioner and Privacy Commissioner, Angelene Falk, said that doing so would give individuals greater confidence that their personal information will be handled fairly and securely when they engage with an organisation.

In other news, ABC reports that contentious liquor restrictions on the sale of alcohol that were introduced to curb antisocial behaviour in Port Augusta have been extended. The restrictions were criticised by drug and alcohol support services for the haste in which they were brought in. However, South Australia’s Liquor and Gambling commissioner, Dini Soulio said police have reported a decline in poor behaviour over the two weeks the restrictions had been in place.
