This fortnight, Australians came together to celebrate NAIDOC week, which commemorates 60 thousand years of continual Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture and survival on the lands and waters of this continent. The theme of this year’s NAIDOC Week was Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! – a powerful reminder of the genuine commitment and action of a united community that is needed to bring forward lasting change, and a celebration of the many who have driven and led change for First Nations communities over generations.
The NSW Attorney General, Mark Speakman, tabled in parliament the NSW Law Reform Commission report, Open Justice: Court and tribunal information: access, disclosure and publication. The report makes 156 recommendations about the laws that govern the disclosure and publication of court and tribunal information, and court suppression and non-publication orders, as well as who has access to information and in what circumstances.View PDF
