A special commission into LGBTIQ hate crimes has been established aiming to provide hope to grieving families and loved ones for answers about crimes that have gone unsolved. The Inquiry will be tasked with inquiring into the manner and cause of death in all unsolved suspected hate crime deaths in New South Wales between 1970 and 2010, where the victim was a member of the LGBTIQ community and the death was the subject of a previous investigation by the NSW Police Force.

The NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption’s (ICAC) Operation Tolosa public inquiry concerning the conduct of City of Canada Bay Mayor, Councillor Angelo Tsirekas, and others began Tuesday, 26 April 2022. The Commission is investigating an allegation that, since 2012, Councillor Tsirekas has partially exercised his official functions to favour the interests of Billbergia Pty Ltd, Prolet Constructions Pty Ltd and Joseph Chidiac.
