Thomsons welcomes new banking and finance partner, Peter West to the firm. Peter joins Thomsons’ Sydney office from an in-house legal role at Westpac Banking Corporation.

Peter has more than 20 years experience in banking and finance law, including the areas of
asset finance, trade and commodity finance, receivables and inventory finance, project finance and corporate and acquisition finance. He also has extensive experience advising operators and financiers in the aviation and shipping sectors.

Chief Executive Partner, Adrian Tembel said Peter’s appointment further strengthened the firm’s
national banking and finance team.

“We know Peter well. He’s worked closely with a number of our banking and finance partners
over many years. Peter will add additional industry and legal skills to our non-contentious banking capabilities,” he said.

At Westpac, Peter assisted with the implementation of the Personal Property Securities reforms.

Prior to taking up the specialist role at Westpac, Peter was a partner at Middletons.

Peter said he was looking forward to re-entering private practice with an independent Australian
law firm.

“Working closely with the team at Westpac has been an excellent experience and it will enable
me to bring an in-house perspective to assist in the development of the Thomsons banking practice,” he said.
