Constellation Brands, Inc. (NYSE: STZ), the world’s leading premium wine company, has completed the sale of its Australian and U.K. business to CHAMP Private Equity.
Announced in December 2010, CHAMP’s acquisition from Constellation Brands Inc. is valued at approximately A$290 million. The acquisition gave CHAMP some of Australia’s most recognized brands, including Hardy’s, Houghtons, Leasingham and Banrock Station.
Thomsons Lawyers, acting for Constellation Brands Inc., advised on all aspects of due diligence and assisted on the sale of all of Constellation’s interests.
The Thomsons Lawyers’ team was led by Partner Loretta Reynolds and Senior Associate Jason Marcus. Thomsons previously acted for Constellation Brands Inc. in relation to its proposed merger with Australian Vintage Limited (which did not proceed).
Constellation is an S&P 500 Index and Fortune 1000 company with approximately 6,000 employees, sales in about 125 countries and operations at approximately 30 facilities.
