Thomsons advise on the sale of Kilcoy Pastoral Company to leading China agribusiness, New Hope Group

5 December 2013

Thomsons Lawyers’ Brisbane corporate team has advised on the sale of Kilcoy Pastoral Company (KPC) to China’s leading agribusiness operator, New Hope Group and other co-investors for an undisclosed sum.

The sellers were a consortium led by Singapore managed private equity fund Harmony Investment Fund and also included Elders and US based investor, Stark Investments.

KPC is the fourth largest beef processor in Australia, employing over 750 people and processing more than 265,000 grain fed cattle per year. This is the first acquisition by New Hope Group in Australia and represents a continuing trend of investment in Australia by offshore interests to secure supply of quality product for their own domestic food markets.
