Thomson Playford Chief Executive Mr Brett Goodridge said the merger with Cutlers would deliver substantial benefits to both firms and their respective clients.

“Thomson Playford is experiencing increasing demand for our services in Sydney and we have been exploring options to facilitate our ongoing growth for some time,” Mr Goodridge said.

“We have been down the merger path before and found it to be an effective and successful growth strategy that benefits both the firm and our clients.

“The success of a merger will always hinge on finding the right partner, and we have found that again – this time with Cutler Hughes & Harris.

“When we began talking with Cutlers we discovered both firms had very similar business ethos and an environment that fosters and develops talent”

Thomson Playford Chairman of Partners Ms Loretta Reynolds said both firms
have a reputation for being commercially astute, technically outstanding and outcome focussed.

“This merger broadens and deepens our legal capability for the benefit of our clients who include some of Australia’s leading businesses,” Ms Reynolds said.

“It will take our firm to the next level.”

Thomson Playford is a firm with a great reputation, and culturally aligns with our values.”

“We wanted to join forces with a firm that was already entrenched in Sydney but, equally importantly, one with a view to further national expansion.

“We share a similar desire for strategic growth that doesn’t come at the expense of the straight advice and personalised service we are known for.The merger will allow us to expand the breadth and depth of legal services provided to our clients.”
