Thomson Geer has continued its progress by signing a five-partner, 16 lawyer and support staff team from international firm Dentons.
As covered by Michael Pelly in the Australian Financial Review, the new recruits include Brisbane-based partners Matthew Rollason (real estate and head of office), Scott Guthrie (restructuring and insolvency, plus board member), Jeff Baker (banking and finance) and Kirsten Pike (real estate). These partners comprise all the Partners from Dentons’ Brisbane office. Joseph Ip, a managing associate (real estate) in Dentons’ Melbourne office will also be joining as a partner.
Chief Executive Partner Adrian Tembel said, “We are advanced in hiring teams for the five partners and expect to shortly complete the sign-up to 16 lawyers and support staff in Brisbane and Melbourne to complete the investment.”
“My guess is we will take advantage of other investment opportunities during the recession. We held strong cash reserves prior to March and we continue to do so. That formula is always pretty useful in the middle of a recession,” Mr Tembel continued.
The addition of Dentons’ Brisbane office will entrench us comfortably in the top ten law firms in Australia by partner number and will strengthen our national real estate and banking capability.
