Thomson Geer Partner, Dr Neil Hannan, is the author of a recently published book, titled “Cross-Border Insolvency: The Enactment and Interpretation of the UNCITRAL Model Law“.
A cocktail reception was held in our Melbourne office on 1 November 2017 to officially launch Neil’s book. Chief Executive Partner, Adrian Tembel, welcomed Supreme Court Justice Sifris, who was pleased to congratulate Neil at the launch.
Dr Neil Hannan obtained his PHD from The University of Western Australia. His thesis looked at the United Nations Committee on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), a model law on cross-border insolvency, which when adopted by individual countries allows for the recognition in that country of foreign insolvency and reconstruction proceedings, in relation to both individuals and corporate entities. The book builds upon his thesis and analyses how the UNCITRAL Model Law on Cross-Border Insolvency has been enacted and interpreted in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Canada and the USA, and the distinctions in its application in the law of each country.
Adrian Tembel said “Neil’s highly respected cross-border technical expertise is in demand from both our inbound and outbound client base. His is an important part of our offering.”
The book is currently available in electronic and hard copy format from Springer International Publishing.
