Thomson Geer has acquired 10 year old Perth property, infrastructure and litigation boutique law firm LSV Borrello, signalling its entry into the Perth market.
The 8 partner and 20 staff boutique law firm will re-badge to Thomson Geer, becoming Thomson Geer’s 5th office, on 1 July.
“This move is on strategy” said Thomson Geer Chief Executive Partner, Adrian Tembel. “We know the LSV Borrello team very well, it’s the right time in the Perth economic cycle and our institutional clients require us to offer Perth coverage”.
“On day one we’ll be transferring two of our senior corporate lawyers into our new Perth office and will also expand in the Banking space”, Tembel added, “Over the longer run we plan to grow Perth as we have grown our Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane offices over the last decade.”
The acquisition of LSV Borrello will end an active 18/19 for Thomson Geer. The firm executed two multi-partner team poaches in Brisbane the first in Mergers and Acquisitions the second in Aged Care. It then acquired the majority of Sydney Banking and Finance specialist firm Kemp Strang and then followed this up by taking an equity stake in Canberra based public affairs consultancy Endeavour Consulting, which has since re-branded to TG Endeavour.
“From the outside, our fiscal 19 may look aggressive” said Tembel “but all our investments have been part of a long term plan and the result of careful preparation.”
