Thomson Geer has advised GeelongPort on its leasing negotiations with TT-Line Company, to successfully relocate the Victorian port home of the Spirit of Tasmania ferries from Station Pier in Melbourne, to Corio Quay in Geelong. The TG team consisted of partner, Vicki Sharp and Special Counsel, Emma Martin.

GeelongPort CEO, Brett Winter, said that the deal with TT-Line will create major economic, employment and tourism opportunities for Geelong and the wider region. Each year, more than 450,000 passengers and 105,000 twenty-foot equivalent units of freight sail with Spirit of Tasmania.

The project is expected to inject new jobs and economic growth into greater Geelong, with proposed construction of a dedicated large scale passenger and freight terminal. The Spirit of Tasmania ships will sail from Corio Quay from 2022.
