Pro bono legal advice for a program helping change people’s lives

11 July 2017

We provided pro bono legal advice to Mayor Chagai, a Sudanese refugee who established a basketball program for Sudanese refugees in Western Sydney: the Savannah Pride basketball club. Mayor’s story, and that of the club, was highlighted on the ABC’s Australian Story on 26 June, and in an ABC article on 29 June

Mayor has been described as a visionary, and the program as having “changed young people’s lives”, reducing crime on the streets of Blacktown and giving young refugees a sense of purpose.

We are proud to have played a small part in this program that has made such a big difference in the lives of this group of young people.
