Partner, Arthur Athanasiou, in his role as President of The Tax Institute, was in hot demand in the media following the release of the Federal Budget on 3 May, and again in late June, in the lead up to the Federal Election.

In early May, Arthur was interviewed on TV for SkyNews Business and on ABC News radio, and he provided commentary for articles published online by SBS, Yahoo7 and 9 News.

The key message across the coverage was that The Tax Institute welcomes positive changes to the tax system that promote fairness for all Australians. Some of the welcome changes include:

• superannuation rule changes to prevent it being used as a wealth creation tool;
• measures to address multinational tax avoidance; and
• small business measures, including a cut to the Corporate tax rate.

Arthur was again extensively quoted in articles published in the AFR on 27 and 28 June in relation to the Tax Institute’s stance on Labor’s proposed tax fees cap.

Well done to Arthur on this extensive coverage which positively reinforces his reputation as a leading commentator on tax issues in Australia.
