Tony Pane is a Consultant practising in the areas of domestic and international taxation. He has over 35 years' experience advising on taxation matters in legal, accounting, and corporate environments.
Tony's corporate tax experience includes mergers and acquisitions, capital management, financing, infrastructure projects and cross border structures/transactions. In addition to planning/structuring advice, he also represents clients in dealings with revenue authorities and disputes. He has familiarity with, and regularly works with, tax advisors in other jurisdictions including the US and the UK.
His principal focus is acting for clients in corporate taxation matters and has an ability to offer a unique perspective having spent significant parts of his career practising as a tax Partner in a major Australian law firm, a senior executive/in-house tax counsel with Village Roadshow Limited and advising the Australian Taxation Office on the application of general anti-avoidance rules. Tony is a member of the Commissioner of Taxation's General Anti-Avoidance Rule Panel (since 2005).Tony was also a member of the 2012 Treasury Roundtable advising government on announced amendments to the General Anti-Avoidance Rule.
