Her practice includes licensing and commercialisation of IP, assistance with IP ownership and structuring issues, research and development collaborations, alliances and joint venture arrangements, the sale and purchase of IP assets and companies, IP audits and due diligence, establishment of franchise systems, manufacturing, supply and distribution agreements, general contracts law and commercial and corporate law.

Katrina also advises in relation to protection of intellectual property assets, privacy and franchise compliance, regulatory issues and disputes, the Australian Consumer Law, infringement of copyright, trade marks, patents and designs, protection of data, knowhow and other valuable confidential information, advertising law and domain name disputes.

Her clients come from a wide range of private and public industry sectors including life sciences, medical devices, health, information technology, government, university and energy and resources.

Advising the Queensland Department of Environment and Science in relation to variation of a Biodiscovery Benefit Sharing Agreement made under the Biodiscovery Act 2004 (Qld) to reflect amendments to the Act relating to biodiscovery plans, subsequent use agreements and the traditional knowledge obligation, and also in relation to rights to intellectual property created through biodiscovery and the implications under the Act where an entity uses digital sequencing information.

Acting for Queensland University of Technology in relation to rationalisation of its complex intellectual property ownership and commercialisation agreements with respect to gene edited bananas including drafting and negotiation of a Master Commercialisation Agreement with Australian Banana Research Pty Ltd, and subsequently acting in relation to drafting and negotiation of new research agreements (Australian and international)
