Commercial law firm Thomson Playford has strengthened its dispute resolution practice with the appointment of an additional Sydney-based team.

The firm has this month been joined by new partner Craig Powell and his established four-member team.

Thomson Playford Chief Executive Officer, Brett Goodridge, said the appointment would further strengthen the firm’s expertise and resources in its growing litigation and dispute resolution practice.

“Thomson Playford has a well established dispute resolution practice in Sydney and Adelaide and a reputation for providing high quality legal services in this area,” Mr Goodridge said.

“Craig’s appointment is in line with our growth strategy.

“As our client base grows and the needs of existing clients increase, it’s important to remain ahead of the game to ensure we continue to provide the highest level of service.

“Craig comes to Thomson Playford with a strong reputation as a results focused litigator who is the preferred dispute resolution specialist for many marketing leading clients in the media, stockbroking, residential construction and food and beverage industries.

Craig and his team will commence with Thomson Playford from April.

Craig worked in senior litigation roles at two major law firms before setting up his own practice.

He had been considering opportunities to move with several large Australian law firms but saw Thomson Playford as a “logical fit”.

“It was Thomson Playford’s full service commercial law capabilities and strong reputation as a provider of top tier legal advice at competitive rates that attracted me to the firm,” Mr Powell said.

“I saw the opportunity of teaming with Thomson Playford as providing outstanding benefits to my client base.

“It is important that my clients have the support of a broader range and depth of expert services and resources that Thomson Playford provides”.

“Thomson Playford’s leading expertise within its core practice areas of corporate, dispute resolution & litigation, property & development and financial services made it a logical move.”

Thomson Playford has more than 250 staff with offices in Adelaide and Sydney, and a developing presence in Melbourne.
