Our Adelaide Property team, led by Partner Sian Rees, has advised Adelaide Airport Limited on its recently announced deal to build a $50 million hotel adjacent to the Airport terminal.

Construction of the Atura-branded hotel is expected to start in April next year, ahead of an opening in late 2018. Atura is operated by Event Hospitality and Entertainment, which also has brands including Rydges, Event Cinemas, QT Hotel and Resorts, Art Series Hotels and Thredbo Resort.

Adelaide Airport Managing Director, Mark Young, said the hotel would cater for passengers catching early-morning flights, particularly after meetings and conferences. It would include a restaurant, bar, business centre and function and meeting spaces.

The hotel is expected to create about 350 jobs during its construction and a further 45 jobs when it opens, and will be the first major stage of a $2 billion expansion at the Adelaide Airport site, as detailed in the airport masterplan released in 2014.
